Modern Life

I heart Britannia Rescue.

After several much put off calls to call centre organisations - contents insurance, central heating servicing, travel insurance - my heart, soul and right ear were weary with the strain of listening to vile popular classics and, eventually, eventually, being shouted at by nasty northern women.

Britannia Rescue, last on the list, the call goes straight through. No, "press 1 to be left hanging indefinitely in a maze of sub nested loops". No atrocious pop. No precipitous demands for my post code and biometrics. Nice Leeds accent woman. I would recommend them to anyone.

Good grief, why make all those calls in one day? Surely your insurance etc isn't all due the same week?

Ref call centres, I've just about given up on dealing with Lloyds (after a relationship stretching back pretty much uninterupted to 1963), whilst the folks at Telewest have been remorselessly polite and helpful every time I've called. Guess which company I'll recommend to friends.

Christ, Telewest haven't been remorselessly helpful with me - polite yes, i give you.
Well, my bag got stolen at the weekend, so I got out the contents insurance to claim, then I noticed the travel insurance was about to expire, and I'm geting a new cooker delivered, so i decided to try and get boiler serviced same day to minimise days off. Boiler has not been serviced in c 14 years so here's hoping .. Much of this is an attempt to shipshape place before tenants arrive & I move. My life is nothing but a series of exhausting calls to tradesmen at the moment ..(and I haven't even contemplated getting the wallpaper redone yet..)
Oh and the car cover ran out AGES ago.
I didn'ty even mention the doubled-up parking ticket and the mysterious endowment policy mess and the removal men quotes.
memo: don't be me currently.

I'd not recommend Direct Line. They hung up on me when they found out I was foreign. Didn't even say "sorry we don't ensure foreigners", just hung up.
