Took cats to vets (finally..) for annual check up and jags. as usual, horribly traumatic. Both cats cry as if about to be spitted. Java pees in her carry-cage the moment I drive off. I get Cookie stuck in the door (why does a vets have an awkward heavy door that has to be pulled not pushed? I ask you..)

Anyway the horrid awful news is thst JAVA NEEDS TO GO ON A DIET. oh the shame. i felt like such a bad mum. And y'know, when i finally got sarky young vet to admit what she weighed, she actually weighs slightly LESS than last year. Which was the same then as what she weighed the year BEFORE. When the vet I saw then (older) said she was *fine*, no she wasn't too fat, it was ok if she was maintaining a stable weight, and could he sell me some nice expensive anti worming and anti flea things? (She's 3 years old btw and weighs 6.1 kilos down from 6.2. Apparently she should be c 4.5.))

Also I told the whole sad tale of how Java gets bullied by Cookie and how I think this makes her take even less exercise cos she hides in her basket in my bedroom, and how she q often pees and poos in advertent places, and now I NOT ONLY have to go see nutritionist but also go see "feline behavourist". I assume this is cat shrink. Oh the awful shame of it. I don't mind being fat and mad, but don't tell me my cat is!!!

Sigh. I can see that feeding one cat special food 3 times a day at regular times is NOT exactly going to match my life style. Cookie already looks sullen as she's off the Sheba and back on the Science Light for the foreseeable as she's been getting porky too... Oh GOD. Will they run away? wil they hate me forever? Would getting one of those automatic timed feeding things Andy has solve everything? How am I going to stop java eating Cookie's feenble victuals? And how much is all this going to cost me?

SIGH!!!!

.. at the end of an almost Moffatesque day of thrills, spills, cat diets, Seroxat scares, guns in Jerusalem, Gene Hunt feeling in his jeans and daggers at dawn with IF, perhaps i should mention having a really nice meal at Zen, the Japanese place on High Street. It's running a deal where for £14-95 you get unlimited freshly prepared starters - plus a main with rice or noodles. Bloody good value, as the starters include unlimited sushi (not my bag but tasted ok and Jordan was wowed by the buttery tuna), gyowza, all kinds of hot skewers, prawn and veggy tempura (huge and pan-hot), miso and other soups, prawn toast, et al. Way cut above such deals normally because everything as I say is freshly made, not cooling on a buffet table. My main was twice cooked duck, some soft and melting, some crispy fried - lovely with lightly steamed veg, tho I was v full of starters!. The place was empty at 6 but packed to rafters at 9 as we left with apparently the entire asian student population eating for the week. A good sign I would say :) Offer ends soon so check website!
