Software help - writers, academics??

I'm revising an 8 yar old manuscript which as you may imagine is full of URLs in footnotes which no longer work!!

I'm geting right tired of looking for these and wondered if anyone knew of any software,pref free, which would test the URLs in a Word document to see if they stil work? feel free to pass this query on..

Don't know of one/haven't used one ...

however I'd guess the one you want is this which looks perfect (and is free!)

You're a star!! sadly it doesn't work with stupid version Word on my laptop -- but I can try it on version at work...

save as HTML, host it and use The W3C link checker. It might choke on Word-generated HTML, though.

Thanks!! I'll maybe try getting a Word version to work first though..
