Regarding the leg, RICE is probably your best bet - Rest, Ice, Compression, Elevation. Sit down, put your leg up and stick an ice pack on it. Optional support bandage later (the Compression bit isn't considered as important as the others, but RIE is a crap acronym). Keep the ice pack (bag of ice cubes wrapped in a tea towel - don't put it direct on the skin or you might get ice burn) on for ten minutes or so, though of course take it off if it feels wrong or painful.
And while you've got the ice out, make yourself a G&T.
Repeat at regular intervals for a good few days.
If you're OK to take it, ibuprofen is anti-inflammatory and will reduce inflammation, helping it to heal. Ignore this if you're allergic, of course.
