The three fastest speeds at which I've ever been a passenger on the road have all been in Volvos.
One of them was in an old 122 "Amazon" fitted with a Group 2 rally engine, tear-arsing around Somerset. Great fun, a lovely car.
One of them was in an 850T5R estate around the York ring road. An old mate of mine who had taken various defensive/tactical driving courses.
The fastest was in an S80 2.9 Turbo, between Cranfield and somewhere round Brum. That was comfortably twice the national speed limit, in daylight, on moderately crowded roads, and my boss was in a mood fit to explode.
Weird really, most people associate Volvos with being staid bourge-mobiles for the lentil casserole set, I usually associate them with abject fear ;)
