Hot Fuzz...
Mar. 16th, 2007 11:43 pmis very very funny indeed - it's nice to have reversed expectations for a change - I was expecting it to be distinctly ordinary from people's vague reactions and in fact i laughed so hard my jaws actually ache..
I do think they could have judicially trimmed about half an hour but on the other hand why bother when they were clearly having such a good time? And i loved the fact that the mimicked the three act structure complete with lowest point and "romantic" buddy relationship. What i want now is the DVD version with an annotation of EVERY SINGLE SCENE they pastiched - I'm not much of a horror, cop or western afficionado and i was getting really frustrated with going "oh i think that's the Exorcist - no the Omen - Wicker man?" It didn't help that I was there with someone who is Dutch:-)
Anyway v good and I will def get the DVD to go with my Spaced and Shaun of the Dead ones.
Oh happy weekend!! I am in quite the mood now to watch rubbish on Comic relief..:-)
EDIT: And rubbish it is with the exception of a pleasant sighting of the Proclaimers who look EXACTLY THE SAME as when one of them lived in my street in Edinburgh c 18 years ago.. whatever tey're on I want some of it..
EDIT: and omg Chris de Burgh REALLY csnnot sing any more (I mean, even if he ever could - completely flat!! Mitchell and Webb are singing better!!)
