There was speculation in my study group that the 'teetotal' barrister might have been pulling the interviewer's leg a bit :-)
Hard to say what the pupillage sex ratio is, but my BVC is about 60% female. Having said that, my study group of 11 comprises 5 men (2 with pupillages) and 6 women (none with pupillages), although that's rather a small sample.
