Good Things For Today

.. as I seem to be a bit bla..
The new Zero 7 album is a real return to form - after their glorious debut was immediately swallowed whole by every dinner party in North London, the second album was a weak attentuated revamp and I thought "ah, another two albumPortishead wonder". But The Garden is a different thing entirely - still mellow, yeh, buit it has this weird pseudo 70s slightly sampled hippy-pschedelic/Beach Boys/Joni Mitchell/ELO synth-ish thing going on - I'm pretty sure that's a sample from Woodstock on the first track and the title is a riff on "and we all have to get back to the garden". Very refreshing stuff to do annoying chapter corrections to :-)
I also bought a(nother) 2nd hand Marion Keyes chicklit cheap in Oxfam at lunchtime. And FISH (not in Oxfam). And *not* chocolate.
The cherry blossom is starting to lie on the ground in pixellated puddles of pink.
I'm reassured to see that even the ever-ebullient
easterbunny occasionally gets the blues. (That probably didn't come out right..)
Fiona Apple also has a new album out. Must get.
Probably going to Plokta Pi.
A nice Southampton person has offered to store rollerblades for me till I get there, that are in my size and only £5. And I might get to meet
nmg as he's coming up for WWW06. (But my panel for WWW0 6 never DID happen. Pah, what waste of time. And I suspect the organisers hate me now.) And
ortho_bob reassured me I wasn't being phished.
I finished most the substantive work on the Family Law 2nd edn book yesterday. I like what I've done to the chapter on juvenile justice, I think. (But that means I now have to tidy up all the fiddly corrections I hate. Blaaa.)
Er that's about it?

Date: 2006-05-16 04:24 pm (UTC)I think that the organisers are probably rather more irritated by the panel chairs who didn't do what was required of them. When they're not running around like headless chickens, that is.
