In a meeting discussing student drop out rates, "attrition" in Soton-lingo, someone notices that in one column we actually added not lost students.

"Oh yes, that's positive attrition!" goes the stats woman.

AAAGGGG. So the word "accretion" or even "addition" departs the bureaucrat language..

Yesterday redeemed by lovely lovely dinner courtesy of [livejournal.com profile] nmg and [livejournal.com profile] ias. This featured (a) viewing the 5 week old Garklet and (b) trying geranium chocolate. I leave you to decide which was more surprising :-)

Technically, it's negative attrition.

Silly bureaucrats.

tasted like slightly flowery less spicey ginger I thought -- nice -- apparently from waitrose. They also had chocs from waitrose which came in hot chili, apricot and lavender and strawberry and black pepper!! I may have to go look for those :-)

Sounds very nice...I may call to a branch of Waitrose when I'm over in London in a few weeks, I know the chili flavour would go down very well with my family, and I'd be keen to try lavender and geranium :)

It comes from a comapny called Rococo Chocolates. Waitrose sells a couple of the less-exciting items from their range, but you can get the rest online direct from Rococo (look for the Artisan bars on their website):

  • Basil and Lime

  • Orange and Geranium

  • Peppered Mint

  • Rose (milk)

  • Lavender (dark or milk)

  • Arabic Spices

  • Black Pepper

  • Cardamom (dark or white)

  • Chilli Pepper

  • Cinnamon (milk)

  • Pink Pepper

  • Sea Salt (milk)

  • Caramelised Almonds (dark or milk)

  • Cocoa Nibs

  • Coconut (milk)

  • Crystallised Ginger

  • Orange Confite

  • Earl Grey Tea

  • Mocha Coffee

Bugger, I thought I'd be the first to point out that it's negative attrition but some other pedants got there first.

Well yes and some of us have proper jobs and only look at it a couple of times a day!

And some of us just have lucky timing -- online in the morning, just as UK people are posting from work.

Yeah, I thought it instantly but can't (safely) read from work these days...
