Well that was different, wasn't it.
RTD in non sentimental political comment shock horror. "Immigrant?" Different from a traveller? An alien? Well?
And perhaps a timely reminder to remind us as we fan wank about Moffat taking over (which I'm as excited about as anyone) that Davies really does deserve his OBE for restoring a national icon AND making it relevant to today - not just as fiction but as comment.
EDIT: Lots of foreshadowing and back referencing buried there as well. Knowing the Doctor's real name critical to trust. But no one knew the hostesses name. Is cleverness enough to make you more special than the rest? "I wish I was special". The Professor was clever but it was his average assistant who saw the truth and the hostess who was brave and empathic enough to do something about it. What kind of challenge is this going to set the Doctor vis a vis Rose, Donna? I don't think it was an accident the Doctor recited the companions'names. (Not Sarah Jane, right?) There's something brewing there.
