I don't know what to do!! It's so hot and my instincts all say go find water but..

Saturday I went to the pool. Sunday I went to the beach!! Today was suppose to be Road Trip day to Dorset or so - maybe the swanky beach at Studlands where beah huts costs a million a throw - but it's just so hot I can't really face the car. Plus I think I may be a bit burnt from yesterday (what me, who's been brown since May? egad how got was it yesterday?) in places *oops*

Beach was West Wittering near Chichester - glorious!! thanks for the rec [livejournal.com profile] tamaranth. I've never seen water that clear, or that warm in the UK!!! You could see fish in the water!! The only problem was the tide was so far out when I got there it was actually almost impossible to swim - waded out as far as the windsurfers, and it was still only up to my waist!. Also I nearly lost all my belongings because when I walked back from swim sans glasses, I couldn't spot my own spot, the beach was so huge amd the tide so far out!! Luckily a Nice Lady took pity on me and helped.. it ain't fun wandering a beach only in unflattering tankini, wet, salty and half blind tho..

Also, boy - the motorway past Portsmouth was fine, but the single road off the A27 to beach - c 7 miles - was solid tailback. Fair enough, but it was STILL tailbacked at 8 o clock at night!!! I went off on a detour via East Wittering and Bosham cove for sunset - which was utterly beautiful, pics to follow - and evaded the trafic, but my god - just too many people and cars in this South place..

ps for those who are thinking "lazy cow off to pool as usual", this week really is official holiday. i am in fact resisting the urge to pull out the ISP chapter which is next to need revised, and read it by the pool. What do people think? Should I go on detoxing from work, or if I have time when I could do something useful, should I do it??

Suggest alternatives for fun things to do in hot weather in this part of the world (other than go to M and S whch probably has aircon! actually I wonder if the sale is on ..:) Ah well we shall see where the day takes me..

No, be on proper holiday, leave the book alone - you are busy enough normally that you have definitely earned a Real Break! :)

The sea is for ships. It is big and salty and nasty and unfriendly. If you must swim, do it in a controlled environment ;P

We're going to holiday in Pembroke next week and when I asked someone who lives there 'what's the local rush hour' he replied 'August'.

We have been warned!

I've only been to West Wittering when the tide's been up. (Must be due to my parents' obsession with tide-times, instilled in us all thanks to Southend's extreme tidal range a.k.a. mud). But it's always seemed very beautiful - apparently good to camp too if you want to avoid the 8 pm traffic jam.

Bosham Harbour's very pretty too, though a bit smelly when the tide's out.
