After not-quite-but-almost the journey from hell (why in god's name are there only 4 carriages on the peak hour train to Edinburgh-via-everywhere if everyone including all the guards knows that every Friday it's standing room throughout its entire length)I am HOME, and boy it feeels good. Yes Embra still feels like home: this may not be right but it is true.
Newsnight Review is full of films and plays about Afghanistan and Iraq. Would it be incredibly PC to say I've had enough? Well I suppose we'll be back to novels about abused Irish childhoods soon enough...
I've already collected a small pile of Things BADLY Neeeded in Sheffield - mainly gin and tonic glasses, Thai cooking essentials and the remote for the PVR. (Yeh, right.) I've also remarkably found my Morocco guide book from when me and Tommy went, c 1992?? with notes in it on our trip to Marrakesh, no doubt dutifully scribbled down for a fanzine article. I may even transcribe them here before I go to compare!! Oh and found in large pile of bills,a cheque for the last two years' royalties on my family law book - not exactly giving up the day job stuff but nice to find after opening correspondence mainly about common repairs and the parlous state of my eendowment mortgage :) Though I AM intrigued to find out that Chris and James' one shot has turned into a regular zine..
Have brought loadsa work with me but hoping really to ignore most of it and enjoy a restful break with my own house, my own TV, my own bed and my own pals :)) The house in Sheffield is lovely but it isn't MINE. I suspect I am not cut out to be a long term lodger. I keep thinking I hear the cats squeaking though - let's hope it isn't nmice!
Ps OOOH! Survivors!! I used to love that :) (Wonder if it has extra zombies this time??)
Anyone got the YT link to this Dr Who CiN thingy??
