Has anyone noticed that despite all the protestations over the Beeb going puritan post Ross n Brand gate, this yar's XmasTV is full of unexpected rudeness?

Stephen Fry on QI explaining the language of fans (sic): *waving pretend fan vigorously* "Across a crowded ballroom, this means, do you swallow?"

Andrew Neil on that weekly news programme, the one with Michael Portillo and Diane Abbott and clearly a few drams to the worse:  *after an Abba tribute intro reprising "Gimme Gimme a Man After Midnight!" (don't ask why)* : "Michael Portillo's favourite Xmas tune!"

'Frankly I'm relieved the Beeb still has a spirit of impetuous insult!

There's nothing remotely unexpected about rudeness on Andrew Neil's programme!

Personally I think the BBC Trust should examine whether any broadcasting standards are being breached by Mr Neil's bloody awful a) wig and b) dye job.

I'm always amused though by how many people (inc me) like taht programme and by its general spirit of bonhomie - given the degree of hatred engendered by all three of the main protagonists individually!!

The person I truely despise is Michael Bloody Gove - I met him at a party years ago and he has remained an arrogant wanker ever since!

You turned him into a wanker?

Oh my!

Yeah, I know exactly what you mean about the bonhomie. I like Diane Abbot (if we lived across the road she'd be our MP, and I'd be happy to continue voting for her; instead we have Meg bloody Hillier). But the other two I used not to like, and still shouldn't and yet, and yet...
