Having said I don't make resolutions, a few Things or Goals or Aims and Objectives (gak!) have in fact occurred to me today that I really want TO DO:

* go back to drinking fresh fruit juice in the mornings as well as toast; it's nice (I'm on clementine, currently) and at least I'll get one portion of fruit in per day (I hate fruit, basically : I buy it periodically to be good, and the result is Off Fruit. This is Silly.)

* change light bulbs when they expire, and not six weeks later, having sworn at them not working for past 6 weeks :-))

* buy more cat litter BEFORE it runs out, so the cats don't sadly have to hold their noses, poo on the floor and look disgruntled (bad kitten me indeed :(

* change my mobile, AND my mobile network contract, so I don't get vast roaming charges every time I go abroad. I want a phone that's as light and small as possible, but will give me email and Web capacity, be tri-band, and ideally have decent phone-cam/video. (I actually use this a lot when I travel - saves carrying phone AND digicam.) Any suggestions/advice? My much loved Orange SPV no longer downloads email from ed.ac.uk : no one knows why, and I have given up trying to figure it out (Orange help simply repeat that they don't "support" IMAP4 - they provide it but they don't support it. Good huh.) I don't know if the new(er) version would be better (SPV2?), but Adele insists it's full of bugs anyway (like not recording voicemail.) The alternative would be to go to a Blackberry type thing: but I feel silly holding a brick to my head!

Does anyone else find themselves .... trying to change a light bulb, which results in dragging the whole mess out of the walk in cupboard to extract step ladder, starting to tidy disaster that is walk in cupboard, remember kettle has just boiled for twelth time, go towards fridge for milk, discover mobile (above fridge) has a new text, go back to PC to check last night's sent email, remember to water neglected plants (next to PC), go back to kitchen for watering can, re boil kettle, discover light bulb on kitchen surface ready to be changed, smell burnt toast, eat some, remember to go get clementine juice, move back towards walk in cupboard for abandoned ladder, reboil kettle... ad nauseam? Or do I just really have ADD?

You really do have ADD. But so do I. I'm pretty sure, anyway. The only thing I seem to be able to focus on for more than ten minutes is surfing the web, which is ADD in a bucket, for Chrissakes.

The new Palm Windows device coming this spring might be suitable, or the Motorola Q phone (although I wouldn't wait for that myself).

And do the legendary [livejournal.com profile] molesworth/[livejournal.com profile] surliminal fanzine, no doubt...

Fits in well between the poo and the light bulbs, I suspect...

Remember to get compact fluorescent light bulbs - they don't need changing anywhere near as often, and they save you money...

But those are the ones that aren't very bright and take a while to get to full beam , aren't they? I have one in my bathroom but TBH I don't like em v much. I like very bright light.

They come in the same range of brightnesses as incandescent, but require fewer watts per lumen. So, an 11 W 'energy saving light bulb' (the most easily available on the high street) will be about as bright as a 40 W incandescent. You need a compact fluorescent rated around 25 W to be equivalent to a 100 W incandescent. My local Woolies and Wilkinson sell them... they pay for themselves in electricity savings within about 6 months.
